Week ending: 13th December 2009
The bright sunshine and flat calm conditions have made the fishing tough at kingennie this week but some anglers have made it look very easy. The specimen pond is still holding a fair bit of colour. Fish are still being caught although it has been quite difficult. Flies that have worked well have had one thing in common and that was plenty of marabou, flies like hummngos, bunny leech, zonkers, and of course the miller skunk.
Most of the fish caught on the specimen this week have been on intermediate lines with a slow retrieve. Notable catches as follows -
The bankside pond has again seen the best of the action and once again it was Ian Gordon that has made things look easy he had 10 c&r 12 c&r 16 c&r and 18 c&r all in 4 hour sessions most of Ian's fish were taken on a yellow cone head fished on a floating line in the bays. Gilbert Cheetham also had a bumper day he kept 6 fish for 12lb and then went on to catch and release a further 14. Best method on the bankside this week has been to cast lures along the reeds to were fish are hitting small roach and perch fry notable catches for bankside as follows -
The woodside any method pond has cleared up a bit more and the clarity of the water is much better now. Fly tactics are working well again but anglers finding that they have to use intermediate or sinking lines to get down to the feeding depth of the fish, best flies have been the same as the other ponds good sized lures with lots of movement. Notable catches for the week,on the specimen pool, J Mclean 2/23lb on a home made lure.Bob Weir had 2/19lb on a cats whisker, Mr Broomfield 2/12lb.
The bankside pool gave Mr Nettles 6/13lb on a white nomad Mr Gilbert 6/12lb Mr Fraser 5/11lb on a yellow dancer. The woodside pool as normal giving good returns Mr Shaw 4/7lb. Dave Stoddart had 4/7lb also, with a fair number of our other anglers around about the same mark.
