The weather has been poor this week but the fishing has been red hot for the anglers who braved the poor conditions. Strong winds and rain for most of the week have made the fishing difficult. The ponds do have a bit of colour in them from all the rain but it hasn't put the fish off the feed, the fresh water coming through the system has the fish fighting very hard. The specimen pond has been the slowest of all the ponds with anglers having to work hard for their limits. Big dark lures fished on an intermediate or floating has been the most productive method on the specimen. Anglers have found the fish to be a couple of feet down and need a slow constant retrieve to tempt them. Flies such as ace of spades, bunny leech and humongous have all worked well this week.
Notable catches as follows Mr Warder Perth had 4 for 25lb all on a Fergus dancer Johnston party 4 rods 11 fish for 67lb J O'Brien 2 for 17lb G Huston 2 for 16lb 8oz D Black 2 for 14lb M Small 2 for 12lb. The bankside has again fished the best of all the ponds with some anglers catching and releasing up to 20 fish in a four hour session anglers on day tickets have been going on to catch much more. Fish have been going to various lures such as cats whisker, nomads, dancers and zonkers. Some fish have been coming off to traditional flies but the sport has been much better on lures, blobs and little devils. Notable catches for bankside as follows. Mr M Grant 2 for 6lb with 27 returned Mr S Grant 2 for 4lb 12oz with 16 returned A Stevens 32 returned all on cats whisker Gilbert Cheetam 6 for 14 ?? Returned Ian Gordon 20 returned in 4 hours!!!! On the Woodside any legal method pond baits have worked better than fly or spinning green power bait fished just off the bottom has been the best method of catching most anglers getting limits with no trouble.
Week ending: 30th November 2009
The beginning of the week at Kinngennie fishings has been a little quieter due to the weather, however, the latter part of the week, has seen some good catches from our three pools. Our specimen pool gave J.Ferguson a nice 12lb fish caught on an orange fritz, whilst D.black had two fish for 16lb on a humungus. Mr Small got his two for 13lb also on a humungus.Mr Bairner catching his two for 12 on a black fritz.
The Woodside pool as usual keeping our bait fishermen happy, lots of fish around about the 2lb mark, caught on worm, sweetcorn, and of course powerbait. Our junior anglers are doing well, a mention for young David Smeaton, from Glasgow, first time fishing, and he caught a 2lb 2oz fish, not bad for a five year old.
The Bankside Pool as usual, fishing extremely well, Mr Rennie had six for 13lb on an orange fritz,Mr Butchart two for 5lb on an orange blob. The Bairners on catch and release had 60 fish between the two of them, nearly all caught on cats whisker, yellow dancer.
Mr prior on a four hour ticket had 14, again on the orange fritz. Ian Gordon, and George Birse had 10 each on bloodworm and bunny leech. Mr Stewart having nine for his three hour session.

It has been a week of heavy rain and high winds at kingennie and this had made the fishing really difficult .the water on most of the ponds has been chocolate brown for most of the week which has meant the fly anglers have had to put their flies right in front of the fish to stand any chance of catching. the best method for catching this week has been to retrieve lures very slow on intermediate lines this has been the case on all the fly ponds.
On the any legal method pond ledgerd power bait has been the most productive method with float fished maggots or worms coming a close second .the bankside pond has been the least affected by all the rain with about three feet of clarity in the water. all sorts of flies have worked on the bankside when the wind has settled down for any length of time again the most productive method has been to fish lures on an intermediate line notable catches for all ponds as follows specimen pond Terry Keane 2 fish for 19lb one at 11lb Andrew Keane 2 fish for 17lb 9 oz S Mclean 2 fish for 16lb 6oz M Ferry 1 fish for 13lb Kev Martin 1 fish for 12lb 4oz .Bankside pond Shane Busher 6 fish for 17lb Paul Mason 6 fish for 14lb with 11 returned Luke Collins 4 for 13lb 4oz with 6 returned Emmon West 4 for 12lb 8 oz with 9 returned Gavin Harvey catch and release(c&r) 19 Stan Harvey 18 c & r Henry Knight 15 c&r Grant Osler 14 c&r .We are now taking names for our boxing day competition it has a limit of 30 places and has some amazing prizes from stays in our lodges to season tickets for the fishing ponds so get your names to jonnie or Brian in the sportsman's entrance to avoid missing out .
Week ending: 16th November 2009
Here at Kingennie its been a week of mixed fortunes, due to the weather conditions, however, some good fish have been caught. Jim Glens had a nice 11lb trout amongst his three fish total of 18lb. On the boat Mr Ferguson landed a nice 10 lb rainbow, whilst Mr Bailey and his friends had nine fish caught mainly on white nomad and green pea variants.
Other anglers saying the fish were lying quite deep, but still catchable,as returns of a decent numbers of fish showed. The Bankside pool has had a good week. Mr Clark had six for 13lb on a yellow dancer, Mr Jamieson five for 11lb on a yellow booby . Mr Ferguson had four for 10 lb, Mr Christie two at 6lb on a mini yellow dancer, and Mr Batchelor two for 6lb on a daddy longlegs. Our catch and release anglers have had a good deal of success, Mr Thompson eight fish on a cats whisker, Mr Reid getting nine on a yellow dancer, and his friend Mr Burke catching five on a yellow bunny leech.
Other anglers using daddy longlegs ,black humungus, and white fritz all reporting good catches.
Our Woodsidepool has given our bait anglers a lot of fun this week with a large number of fish up to 2lb being caught, using the favourite baits of worm and powerbait.
Week ending: 8th November 2009
The fishing this week at kingennie has been hard due to very murky water caused by heavy rain fall recently .anglers who have persevered have been rewarded with some cracking fish. Mark Small had his second double in two weeks with a fine rainbow of 14lb caught on a home tied lure .Jim Tait has had another couple of sessions this past week and he showed he still has the magic touch when it comes to the big fish he had seven fish for 46lb 8oz, most of his fish were caught on a bleeding cat .The most productive tactics have been single lure fished on a floating or sink tip line notable cathces as follows, D Mckenzie 4 for 32lb one at 15lb caught on big home tied lure of black and green.R Young 4 for 31lb one at 13lb 6oz all on a gold hummungos. M Small 2 for 19lb one at 14lb Jim Tait seven for 46lb kildrum a/c 6 rods had 24 fish for 172lb.
The bankside pool has been just as hard a fish this week with the coloured water making its way through the system .The dirty water combined with flat calm conditions for most of the week have made fishing on the bankside very hard, anglers found that very slow retrieve or fishing static under a bung has been just about the only way to consistently catch fish other methods have worked but are only picking up the odd fish. Flies that have worked well this week have been a wide range of damsels, buzzers and floating fry of various sizes notable catches as follows K Black 6 for 20lb one at 8lb with 4 returned Davie West 2 for 7lb with one at 5lb he also returned 6 on a four hour session R Smith catch and release 13 mostly on damsels.
The woodside any legal method pond has also been affected by the coloured water the best bait this week has been green power bait fished just off the bottom. Most anglers managing there bag limits. The ponds should start to clear now in the next few days as long as we don't get much rain. The prospects for the coming week are good with very little.
rain forecast over the next seven days .Week ending: 1st November 2009
It has been an eventful week at Kingennie, the weather not so good, water very brown from all the rain we have had. Still some good fish being caught. The Specimen pool giving up some big fish, Mr McCabe had a 15lb trout caught on a bunny leech, closely followed by Mr Small with a 13 lb specimen. Average sizes caught by most anglers was in the six to ten pound range, using lures. The Woodside pool has been giving our bait anglers a good deal of pleasure this week, with fish up to 2lb plus being caught, worms and power bait helping anglers get their bag limit.
Over on the Bankside, fish 2lb to 3lb were giving the guys a good bit of sport, mainly all being caught on Cdc, Humungus, and Cats Whisker. The catch and release anglers were enjoying themselves with lots of fish being safely returned.

Week ending: 23rd August 2009
The fishing this week at Kingennie has been good with lots of fish coming off all the ponds. The Specimen pond has been fishing best of all but high numbers coming off all the ponds. The weather has not helped the fishing on some days with a strong west wind blowing most of the week with some extremely heavy rain at times as well. The best method on the specimen pond this week is still lures with a techno cat and a hot head damsel taking most fish but you are needing to step down the weight of your leader in the crystal clear water. When the conditions have suited they have been coming up for dry fly's aswell. The biggest fish so far this week was taken in on a dry fly that weighed in at 12lb as well as a 11 pounder that took a cat. There are also brown trout starting to get caught again after there usual disappearing act over the summer. The best bags this week have been j Fleming with 4-28lb7oz N smart 2-18lb and the Bannockburn angling club that took 20 fish for 129lb that shows a good average size of nearly 6.5 lb. The Bankside has still got a lot of algae in it but there arte fish coming off regularly. There has not been a top fly this week as everything from yellow dancers and blobs to buzzers and goats toes taking fish. The average size in the pond is still up at around 2.5 pound with most fish being in excellent quality.
The top bags have been C wood 6-17lb9oz P coulson 2-6lb5oz J brown 2-6lb2oz.
The Bait pond has been in fine form as well there have been lots of fish coming off to worm and sweet corn with maggots and powerbait still taking fish. There have been a few fish in the 2 to 3 pound mark coming off with the majority of fish being around 1lb. The top bags have been H Whitford 4 6lb9oz T white 3-5lb3oz G Johnston 2-3lb5oz. The coarse pond has had little pressure over the past week but is producing lots of small fish but the big carp are proving hard to catch. The small carp are really starting to move about now with fish of up to half a pound coming out fairly regularly as well as small roach and rudd along with some very nice perch.
Week ending: 2nd August 2009
The fishing this week at Kingennie has been good with lots of fish being caught. The weather has been very changeable with fantastic sunshine one minute then heavy rain the next. The wind cant make up its mind either but it is generally coming from the west blowing up big gusts causing problems with casting. The Specimen pond has been fishing best with fish coming out to a variety of methods but the best is still lures.
There has not been one lure that has out fished any other it really has been a case of changing till you find what they want but black and green and cats are the most popular. When lures don't work buzzers and nymphs are getting fish especially in the evening. Top nymphs have been red and olive buzzers or a daiwl bach. The top bags this week have been D Barr 4-32lb M Shaw 3-26lb L Bell 4-29lb 7oz. The Bankside has still got a lot of algae in the water but with all the rain it is getting washed though and starting to clear. The top fly's have been a black or orange blob with some fish coming out to buzzers of various colours. The top catches have been J Hinse 4-11lb 4oz C Perkins 4-10lb 3oz J Davies 2-6lb 1oz.
The Woodside has been producing lots of fish with most people coming off with bag limits. The best bait has been worms, powerbait or powerbait worms. The best bags have been C Baily 6-10lb R Robinson 4-6lb 6oz S Harrison 2-3lb 12oz. On the warmer days the Coarse pond has been producing fish with all the small fish putting up a good account of themselves. There have been a few of the golden Rudd and the bigger roach putting in an appearance. There have also been some small carp being caught from the stocking last year. There have been a couple of the big carp including the well known leather. They are showing well on the surface but proving a bit tricky to hook. They are getting there heads down and feeding as the evenings are wearing on.
Week ending: 19th July 2009
Fishing this week at kingennie has been all about the specimen pond with many of the bigger fish showing up in the catch returns. They have been coming out on a variety of flys with the best being a white bunny leach or a hot head damsel fished near the surface on a floating line. When they stop chasing the lures they have been taking small bloodworms and crunchers, and even coming up for the dry in the right conditions.
Notable catches have been A cook 4-25lb, C Martin 2-17lb 8oz, R Cowan 3-20lb and C Dixon had a great few hours releasing two fish around the 10-11lb mark in a six fish haul. The bankside has had a algae bloom resulting in reduced visibility but it in now clearing every day. This gave the fish a break for a few days resulting in great action at the weekend if you could get the right fly. Top flys have been olive buzzers and green diawl bachs or orange blobs and yellow dancers if your fishing lures. Top catches have been B Kirk 3-7lb5oz, A Neilson 5-14lb2oz, J Smith 2-6lb12oz and I Gordon releasing 11. The woodside has been fishing very well with lots of limit bags coming off. The average size of the fish has been around the 1lb 6oz mark with some fish up to 2lb 4oz coming out. The best method has been worm or power bait but most methods are working. Top catches have been R Thompson 4-7lb, T Drummond 2-3lb 8oz, J reid 2-3lb 2oz K Wilson 8-12lb 4oz. The course pond has had plenty of anglers fishing it with lots of small fish starting to show.
Everything from roach and bream to trout and eels have been coming out to maggots and small chunks of worm fished over hemp and ground bait.
The big carp are still proving tricky but letting there guard down as the evenings wear on coming up to the surface taking bread and dog biscuits. During the day the best method appears to be the zig rig fished near the surface.
Week ending: 5th July 2009
It has been all about the buzzers this week at Kingennie with anglers finding most colours of buzzer working very well .the fishing has been best early morning and late evening, the bright sunshine with no wind on most days has really put the fish deep during the day making them very hard to catch .buzzers fished with a blob ,booby or under a bung has been the best method by far .some anglers have had a few fish with lures mainly yellow cone heads and different kinds of nomads notable catches for bankside as follows Ian Gordon 15+ on c+r G Burns had four days c+r with returns of 23 ,20 ,16 ,and 13 most on olive buzzers Fraser Wright 6 for 16lb Peter Wright 5 for 15lb 9oz one @6.5lb.the specimen pond has been much the same as last week with the fish lying very deep, sinking lines have been needed during the day fished with booby's or lures. The sport has been much better in the evening with the fish coming up in the water as the temperature drops teams of buzzers have also done well on the speci this week fished static under a bung .notable catches as follows K Timpson 3 for 24lb 12oz Greg Martin 2 for 19lb 8oz Harry Brough 2 for 19lb team north west 8 rods 24 fish for 168lb.on the woodside pool it has been mainly worms or maggots fish are coming out at an average of 1.5lb .the boathouse pool has seen some nice bags of silvers with the small bream starting to make an appearance cocktail baits fished on the bottom have been the best method of catching the bream the big carp have been feeding hard and a couple have been on the bank the biggest of which was just over the 13lb mark .Fishermans week is coming soon starts 13th July with fun comps and prizes every day all permits will have 25% off for the week fly and bait comps 19th casting demos 18th for more details see www.forbesofkingennie.com or call 01382 350213

The weather has been red hot this past week and so has the fishing at kingennie a slight breeze for most of the week has kept a nice ripple on the water all pools have produced some nice bags but the bankside has been the hottest of all with some of the season ticket holders reporting catch and release figures of up to 30 a sesson. season ticket holder Ian gordon has had several days with returns in the twenties with his fish coming to all sorts of flys big and small all fished on a floating line .the killer method this week has been the washing line with a ginked blob on the point teamed with olive buzzers the biggest fish of the week was caught on a orange blob fished with a short leader on a sinking line the fish was caught from the dam wall by Fraser Wright from perth he managed a 6 fish limit for 17.2 lb with the big one tipping the scales at 6lb 10oz other notable cathes as follows Keith Busher 5 for 16lb (olive buzzer) R Coleman 4 for 12lb 12oz (buzzers) James Burnett 3 for 9lb 8oz (lures) T Burnett 30 rtn Ian Gordon 24 rtn Arron Pearse 22 rtn the specimen pond has been a hard fish this week with anglers having to work hard with sinking lines on the day sessons pulling lures through the deep water anglers who have fished the evening sessons are having much more success with the fish coming to more natural flies such as buzzers and nymphs good rises have been coming in the last hour of light with the odd fish been taken of the top notable returns as follows L Mooney 4 for 28lb 2oz one at 11lb P Mooney 3 for 21lb 7oz Colin Knight 2 for 18lb 4 oz Peter Cooper 1 for 11lb 10 oz on the woodside pool any bait is a good bait with anglers catching on all sorts of methods from powerbait to plugs the fish are averaging just under the 2lb mark with most anglers getting thier limits with no trouble .on the boathouse coarse pool anglers are picking up some nice bags of silver fish now that the fish have had time to settle lets hope that things will just get better from here.
Week ending: 13th June 2009
Flat calm conditions for most of the week have put the fish well down in the water with anglers on the specimen pond having to use sunk lines pulled along the bottom to pick up fish .water quality is still improving on the speci pond with very little rain it has had a chance to clear up a fair bit .still working well on this pond are the miller skunk,silver/gold hummungus, cats whisker, some fish have also been caught on more traditional flies such as watsons fancy ,silver invicta, and peter ross.only one double came off the pond this week a nice rainbow of 11lb 9oz went to Shane busher from dunkeld he managed to land two fish for 17lb 8oz both of his fish were caught on a silver hummungus other notable catches on the speci were T Thompson 4 for 29lb Ian fraser 2 for 16lb 6oz J Thompson 2 for 16lb 4oz and J milner 1 for 9lb 10oz .the bankside pool has seen some more great rises but with the water being so calm catching fish has been difficult.small flies and light line has been the only way to get about the fish but with some big fish about a lot of people are being broken off.this week also saw the 2009 Macmillan cancer big fish event held at kingennie with 20 rods taking part £3000 was raised so well done and thank you to all participants winner of the comp was Paul cowley with a limit of 6 fish for 15lb 8oz and he also managed one of the special tags that was worth £300 .on the bait pond this week the fish have been going daft for fake worms so much so that we have had to restock the shop with them most fish this week have averaged 2lb the water is still quite low but rain is due so that should be back to normal levels soon.
Week ending: 6th June 2009
This week Kingennie has saw a mixture of weather from calm warm summer days to gale force winds and hail. The sport on the bankside pool is still on fire with fantastic rises and great catches. The fish have been seen cruising just under the surface taking small nymphs and crashing into small roach fry.The fishery team at Kingennie have been concentrating on the blanket weed that spread throughout the shallow bays after three days of glorious sunshine, After a couple of days clearing we have managed to make the bays 100% fishable. There has been a mixture of species getting caught Browns rainbows, blues and even the odd roach. the heaviest Blue this week tipped the scales at 6lb 4oz caught by Dundee angler Mike Mitchelle,The most productive patterns this week have been large dry flies and fry imitations .Best catches this week as follows; A Marr Dundee 6/19lb, Norrie Flood Kirrie 6/17lb 90z, D Gall Monifieth 6/20lb,Mr Swavie Dundee C&R 24 on dries, M Pirrie C&R 12 on a hughmungus.
The fish in the Specimen pool have been lying low during the day with sunk lines and lures producing the bigger fish. The evenings have seen some small rises and the trout working the margins for hatching sedges and canes. The heaviest fish this week was landed by junior angler Josh Moncur from Inverness, the fished tipped the scales at 1llb 8oz his biggest fish ever. other notable catches; A Kerr 4 /24lb . Raymond Walter 4/29lb,Mark kairnan C&R 6 on buzzers.
Week ending: 31st May 2009
Thia week has seen a steady improvement in weather and temperatures and Kingennie trout seem to be enjoying the better conditions as much as the anglers. There has been much more surface activity on all the ponds, with the Bankside in particular seeing some great rises of fish, particularly in the evenings.
Tha Bankside fish have been sipping emergers just sub-surface and at times the problem was deciding which fish to cover! Catch and release regulars had some great sport with CDC's and emergers and many reported hooking and releasing between 6 and 10 fish for their session. Early in the week, Mr Horsburgh had a fantastic night's sport with 20 caught and released to a small hares ear emerger. Other catches included Mr Dear, 2,4lb, Mr Wilcox, 1,3lb, Mr Gilchrist, 2,7lb8oz, Mr McCombe, 2, 5lb8oz, Mr Duffy, 2,5lb8oz, Mr Harrison and party, 8,20lb12oz, Mr Brewster, 2,5lb, Mr Small, 6,13lb, Mr Soave, 2,5lb8oz. Kingdom Homes enjoyed good sport on their outing to Kingennie with 31 for 55lb.
On the Specimen Pond, buzzers, diawl bachs and damsel nymphs out-caught lures this week in the warmer conditions, and catches included, Mr Craig, 3,16lb, Mr Fyffe, 2,11lb, Mr Smith, 2,11lb, Mr West, 2,12lb, Mr Degan and party, 5,31lb, Mr Miller, 2,13lb, Mr Williamson, 2,12lb8oz, Mr Whitelaw and partner, 5,24lb, Mr Howieson, 2,13lb, and against the trend, fishing lures, Mr Fulton and party had 6 for 33lb8oz to yellow dancers and Fritz's The Woodside any legal lure Pond continues to produce some good quality fish with worm, maggot and powerbait all taking fish. Catches included Mr Davidson, 2,4lb8oz, Mr Evans, 7,13lb, Mr Poustie, 2, 3lb12oz, Mr Mills, 2,4lb12oz, Mr Wakeford, 4,6lb8oz, Mr Ness, 2,4lb4oz, Mr Donald, 4,7lb, Mr Osborne, 5,10lb, Mr Finlay, 2,5lb, Mr Ratcliffe, 4,8lb4oz, Mr Grieve, 1,3lb, and Mr Stirton, 6, 10lb4oz.
The recently introduced catch and release tickets on the Specimen Pond are proving popular, and of course, Bankside anglers with tickets to take fish who get their limit can continue to fish on a catch and release basis provided they switch to barbless hooks and take care to support fish in the water until they are fully recovered and ready to swim off.
Week ending: 24th May 2009
After reporting last week that Kingennie anglers were dressing for cold weather in the east to north easterly winds, we've had a few occasions this week when the wind has swung round to the west and temperatures have improved. The result has been that anglers on all ponds have been able to report lots more surface activity and on the Bankside Pond dries and emergers fished in the surface film have proved most successful. At times with fish feeding hard it has been necessary to drop down to small flies and regular lady angler at Kingennie, Nancy Small had to fish 16's to get her 5 for 11lb, and despite hooking and losing several more, the small hooks were making it difficult to get a good hookhold and Kingennie's hard fighting Bankside trout would just not let her get her 6th fish for a limit bag. Other catches on the Bankside included Mr McTaggart, 2,5lb8oz, Mr Murray, 4,10lb8oz, Mr Thompson 4, 9lb12oz, Mrs Alloway, 5,12lb4oz, Mr Wilson, 2,7lb8oz including a superb 5lb4oz fish to a booby fished floating on the surface. On the same day, Mr Muir had
3 for 6lb4oz to a floating fry. Catch and release anglers also reported some fine sport, with a few catching between 6 and 10 fish. Fourteen year old Alan Rigsby and his grandfather, fishing catch and release together had 7 each to small black buzzers. Other effective flies were hares ear emergers, green buzzers and black shuttlecock CDC's.
The Woodside any legal lure pond has been fishing very well, with powerbait probably just edging worm and maggot in terms of catches. Lots of fish in the 2lb plus range are figuring in catches which included Mr Butchart, 1,2lb, Mr Davidson, 3, 5lb8oz, Mr Milne, 1,2lb4oz, Mr Stewart, 2,4lb4oz, Mr Wakefield, 5,10lb, Mr Fox, 4,8lb8oz, Mr Travis, 4,7lb, Mr Grady, 3, 5lb12oz, Mr Kearnan, 8, 16lb8oz, Mr Howlett, 4, 6lb8oz, Mr Duncan, 4, 8lb8oz, Mr Ratcliffe, 6,10lb, Mr Osbourne and party, 9,13lb, Mr West, 5,10lb8oz, Chalet Guest Mr Wilson had 8,17lb8oz, Mr Scott, 4,8lb12oz and Mr Shaw, 4,7lb4oz. Bucking the powerbait trend, Mr Muir took 4 for 12lb fishing fly.
On the Specimen Pond, Cats Whisker, Blobs and Miller Skunk fly all did the business. Fishing Green Blob, Mr Jack took 4 for 22lb and on the same day, Mr Bosch also took 2, 9lb on blobs.Other catches included Mr Kingslow, 2,10lb8oz, Mr Smith, 2,11lb4oz. Husband and wife team Mr and Mrs Knighthad 4 between them with Mrs Knights 2,13lb just beating her other half's 2, 12lb8oz. Bob McHardy's party of 8 had a great days fishing with 30 fish for 170lb 8oz, with the best fish being taken by Mr Libo at 8lb12oz - as the saying goes, "a good time was had by all!"
Week ending: 17th May 2009
In a repeat of the pattern from the same time last year, the east coast has been beset for weeks now by cold east to north easterly winds and though fish can still be seen sipping emergers from just below the surface on Kingennie's Bankside Pond, Kingennie anglers are using late spring tactics, with small naturals such as hares ear emergers, buzzers and dries, but dressed in winter clothing!. Average sizes of fish remain good, with a sprinkling of bigger fish to 6 or 7 lbs among them. Mr Stewart got the week off to a good start with a fine 7lb8oz rainbow to a pheasant tail nymph on Monday while other catches for the week included Mr Soave, 2, 6lb8oz, Mr Reid, 1, 3lb8oz, Mr Dickson, 2, 6lb, Mr Campbell, 2, 6lb, Mr Small, 2, 5lb, Mr Anderson, 3, 10lb, and Mr Miller, 2, 7lb. Hares ear emergers, Diawl Bach and small montanas all took fish.
Catch and release anglers had a good week too, with regulars taking up to 6 fish and reporting seeing good rises.
On the Specimen Pond, the cold winds with alternating bright sunshine and heavy rain has seen the fish lying deeper, and green and black lures, yellow dancers and a variety of cats whiskers all took fish.
Catches included Mr Williams, 2, 14lb, Mr Stewart and party from the west coast had 7 for 38lb, Mr Young, 1, 5lb, Mr Edwards, 2, 11lb8oz, and taking advantage of Kingennie's recently introduced catch and release ticket on the Specimen Pond, Mr Baxter and Mr Campbell felt that their long trip from Selkirk was justified by their tally of nine fish caught and returned on a variety of lures.
The Woodside Pond continued to produce fish to worm, maggot, powerbait, sweetcorn and fly, thus keeping everybody happy no matter what their favourite bait. Catches included Mr Smith, 2, 3lb12oz, Mr Small, 3, 6lb 4oz, Mr Fox, 3, 6lb, Mr Hunter, 1, 2lb, Mr Duncan and partner, 8, 15lb8oz, Mr Smith, 4, 8lb, Mr Muir and Partner, 8, 17lb, Mr McTaggart, 9, 17lb8oz, Mr Reiud and partner, 8, 16lb, and to finish the week on a high note, Mr Low, fishing with 4 friends, took 21 fish on a cold Sunday evening for 40lb12oz
Week ending: 10th May 2009
Another very mixed week weather wise, with generally cool temperatures and easterly breezes, but the Kingennie fish don't seem to mind that.
All ponds have been fishing well, with the Bankside in particular enjoying good rises of fish. Gentle sipping rises seem to indicate small flies at or just below the surface, and CDC's, small dries and buzzers have been most successful on the Bankside. Mr Walter Aitcheson, out for his first ever fishing trip with friend Andrew Soutar got his fishing career off to a spectacular start with the fishing equivalent of a McNab - 3 trout of different species, brown, rainbow and blue, with his best at 4lb 8oz. Only downside is he's set himself a very high standard which will be difficult to beat! Another unusual hat trick was chalked up on the Bankside this week. An 11lb Brownie got itself caught and released for the 3rd time this season! Recognisable by distinctive markings, it must be trying to prove that its not just cats which have nine lives - one of these days its going to make a fatal mistake and pick an angler who is not fishing a catch and release ticket! Other notable Bankside baskets included Mr Cooper, 4, 17lb 8oz, and Mr Wilson, 6, 15lb. Catch and release anglers reported some good catches with Mr Ferguson bucking the trend of small flies to take and return 9 to an Apps Blob.
The Specimen Pond also saw fish turning to naturals rather than lures, and Mr Bailey and party from Falkirk had a great days sport with 22 fish for 127lb 12oz. Other catches included Mr Williams, 2, 13lb, Mr Kirkwood, 1, 9lb4oz, Mr Lloyd, 2, 14lb4oz, and Mr Burns and partner, 3, 17lb8oz.
The Woodside any legal lure pond has continued to produce some quality catches, with worms, maggots, powerbait and sweetcorn all taking their share. Average weights have been good too, with many fish in the 2 to 3lb range. Catches on the Woodside included Mr Jarrow, 4, 6lb, Mr Robb, 4, 7lb12oz, Mr Douglas, 4, 8lb4oz, Mr Tragham, 2, 4lb, Mr Sturrock, 4, 11lb, Mr Kelly, 6, 12lb, Mr McDonald, 3, 6lb8oz, Mr Matthew, 4, 7lb4oz, Mr Douglas, 4, 9lb12oz.
On the Coarse Pond both carp anglers and silver fish adherents have enjoyed good sport, though they would all like to see the water temperature a bit higher. Fred Irvine was very happy with his fine specimen carp at 15lbs.
Week ending: 3rd May 2009
The fishing this week at Forbes of kingennie has saw some great surface activity on the Bankside pool and fish averaging over the 3lb mark. Most of the fish being caught have fell to sedge like patterns or small skinny black buzzers. The evening sessions are well under way now seeing some great rises. The biggest fish this week was for Mark Chalmers from Dundee who returned a Rainbow of 11lb on a sparkly Hawthorn . Other good catches as follows; Mr small 6 /22lb on buzzers, Mr G Sandman Aberfeldy 6 20lb on dries ,Mr Brian Clark from Dundee 6/19lb 8 oz on c.d.c .Mr Grant Osler C&R a brown trout estimated over the 10lb mark , the fish took a c.d.c hopper off the top.
The Specimen pool has started to see some of last years Brown trout coming off in mint condition, The biggest this week so far has been 9lb , took on a big black zonker. Top tactics have been intermediate lines teamed up with black lures or black and green nymps.Bob Miller had his 4th brown trout of the session weighing in at 5lb.
The Woodside has fished its head off this week fish averaging over 2lb! Favourite bait has been green power bait fished under a float.Biggest fish this week was 4lb6oz on a worm for junior angler Alistair Watson.
The fish pot was won this week By Josh Adams from Dundee he walked away with £155.
Next Competition is The Macmillan cancer support on the 13th of June names to Jonnie or Brad at the fishery Desk.

| Mr Young from Fife, with a superbly spotted Brown Trout of 6lb from the Specimen Pond |
Kingennie anglers have enjoyed another week of good sport on all the trout ponds. The Bankside Pond in particular produced some spectacular catches with a number of big fish to 8lb figuring in the catches. After a period of a few weeks during which small dries have been the order of the day, the significant factor this week has been that almost anything goes! Bloodworm, green and black lures, montanas, blobs in a variety of colours - all have taken there share of fish. Among the catches were Mr Maddox, 2,6lb, Mr Mudie, 2,9lb12oz, best 8lb, Mr McKenzie, 4,10lb, Mr Duncan, 3,8lb, Mr Heenan, 3,17lb, Mr Small 1,5lb, Mr McEwan, 2,6lb8oz, Mr Soave, 4,14lb8oz, best 7lb5oz, and Mr Douglas Low, Aberdeen, had a superb 6 for 28lb including 2 at 7lb, all to a pink blob. Catch and release anglers reported some good catches, with Mr Gordon reporting a rainbow estimated at double figures among his 12 for 2 visits. The blue trout in the Bankside are just beginning to show in catches and are being described by those who've had them as possibly the hardest fighting trout they've encountered. The Kingennie fishing team are still waiting to record the first of the cut-throat trout stocked into the Bankside earlier this year. Who'll be first?
The Woodside any legal lure pond also fished well, with powerbait doing best, and among the catches there were Mr Allen and partner, 7, 16lb4oz, Mr Stirton, 8, 16lb, Mr Flemington and partner, 7,13lb, Mr Anderson, 2,5lb12oz, Mr Thompson, 1,3lb, Mr Williams, 2,4lb, Mr Walton, 3,5lb, Mr Hoon, 3,4lb12oz.
Specimen Pond anglers saw some browns showing an interest, and and several to 6lb8oz figured in the catches, though Rainbows continued to dominate. Mr Williams had 2, 8lb, Mr Young, 1, 6lb, Mr Nealy, 1,5lb, Mr McHardy, 2,11lb12oz, Mr Miller, 1,9lb, Mr Bairner and partner, 6,34lb, Mr Harvey, 1,4lb8oz. Again, lures predominate, with black and green lures, black bunny leech, and tadpole viva continuing the black and green trend.
All three trout ponds at Kingennie have tagged fish in them with a variety of prizes on offer for anyone fortunate enough to catch one.
Week ending: 19th April 2009
Cold east to north-east breezes dominated this week yet fish on the Bankside Pond still could be seen feeding hard on small flies on the surface Many anglers found they were rising short, and had to drop down to sizes as small as 16's to get more positive rises and takes. Small CDC's and grey or black bodied flies seemed to be most successful, although some anglers who went in the opposite direction and fished something big and gaudy managed to provoke takes. Generally speaking it was those who worked hardest by persevering with the surface feeding fish, varying fly sizes and retrieval speeds, who had the most success.
Catches included Mr Jamieson, 3 7lb4oz, Mr Grant 2, 4lb12oz, Mr Thompson, 1 3lb8oz, Mr Hardy 6, 14lb. Some regular catch and release anglers reported good catches of up to 8 fish again to small dries.
The Woodside any legal lure pond continues to produce some good quality rainbows of between 2 and 3lbs. Powerbait has also continued to be most successful, and on some days of bright sunshine, it has been those who either legered or increased the depth the bait was fishing below the float who found the depth the fish were feeding at until the sun went off the water in the evening. Catches on the Woodside included Mr Wakeford, 4, 7lb12oz, Mr McKenzie, 6 12lb, Mr Kerr, 2, 4lb, Mr Stirton, 3, 6lb8oz, Mr Bruce, 2, 4lb8oz, Mr Traczyk, 3, 6lb, Mr Reilly, 3, 5lb8oz, and fishing a competition on Sunday 19th April, Durie Angling Club had 26 for 44lb12oz, with the winner taking away a voucher for fishing on the Woodside Pond in addition to the points towards the club championship.
On the Specimen Pond, black and green lures were again most successful as has been the case for a week or two. Sometimes though its hard to judge whether that's because it's the fly of choice of the fish, or whether its because that's all the anglers are offering them! Catches there included Mr McGowan, 1, 5lb, Mr Milne, 4, 21lb, Mr McGubbin, 2 10lb8oz, Mr McHardy, 4, 21lb, Mr Bennan, 3, 20lb, Mr Hamilton, 2, 9lb, On the Coarse Pond, anglers are seeing cruising carp and shoaling roach and rudd, but the water temperature is still very cold and so they are proving difficult to catch. Prospects are looking really good for the coming season though and some of the more experienced coarse anglers have commented favourably on the way the former trout pond is developing as a coarse fishery.
Week ending: 12th April 2009
The fine spring weather enjoyed most days by the east coast of Scotland, combined with it being the school holidays, has seen a busy week for the fishing team at Kingennie. The Bankside Pond has seen some cracking rises of fish, particularly in the evenings, which is great since evening sessions are now in full swing at Kingennie. Dry flies have very successful on the Bankside, with Olives and Grey Wulffs taking some quality Browns and Rainbows. The Blues are figuring less frequent in catches, and seem to still be feeding closer to the bottom, with a variety of bloodworm patterns finding favour with them Although the weather has been bright, the wind has been cool and the Woodside , any legal lure pond bait anglers have found the fish feeding deeper, with powerbait out-catching worm and maggot as well as the fly.
The Woodside pond is very popular with anglers at opposite ends of the age spectrum, and pensioners and school kids alike have been revelling in catches which have been including significant numbers of fish in the
3lb+ class as evidenced by Mr Allan's 4 for 12lb!
The Specimen Pond fish are still showing a preference for lures, particularly black, and black and green. Among the catches, Mr Taylor had a fine bsket of 3 for 17lb8oz to a black and green bunny leech, Mr McHardy, 3 for 18lb, and Mr Hayes had a cracking tagged fish at 8lb.
All three Kingennie ponds have been stocked with fish with tags of a variety of colours, with prizes for anglers lucky enough to catch one varying from a selection of flies to free fishing, meals in Kingennie's Waterside Restaurant, and a cash pot.
